Howard Shelton Obituary
Howard Shelton, 83, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
Howard was born on July 27, 1927 to Eunice Betts and Howard M. Shelton and was a lifelong resident of Pearsall TX.
He was married to Sue Salmon Shelton who died June 18, 2003. Survivors include sister, Dorothy Faye Nagy and husband Joe Nagy of Lubbock, TX; children, Roxanne Shelton of San Antonio, TX, Susan Crawford and husband Frank of Pearsall, TX, Jenefer Ellgen and husband Wes of Aurora, CO, Jim Shelton of Orlando, FL, Howard McCauley Shelton (Willie) and wife Rhonda of Pearsall, TX; grandchildren Lamar Hinnant of San Antonio, TX, Thomas Hinnant and wife Jen of Pearsall, TX, Katherine Betts Millies and husband Ben of Lytle, TX, Karlee Shelton of Pearsall, TX and Kyle Shelton of Pearsall, TX; great grandchildren Tyler, Dillon and Brooklyn Hinnant of Pearsall, TX. Howard is also survived by sister-in-law Peggy Adams and husband Tommy of Sequin, TX, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Howard was a graduate of Texas A&M. After graduating from college, he served in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he returned to Pearsall to run Shelton Cleaner's and Menswear one of the oldest privately owned businesses in Pearsall. He also farmed for many years. He was a Life and Endowed member of the Pearsall Masonic Lodge No. 399, a member of the San Antonio Knights Templar No. 7 and American Legion Post 5. While in the army Howard learned to fly which remained a passion throughout his life. Howard had many small planes and also owned a flying service. Howard was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Howard had many friends and he touched many people. He will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pearsall, Friday, December 7, 2012 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10:00am in the First United Methodist Church of Pearsall, TX, with interment following in the Pearsall Cemetery. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church.

Dear Sheltons
I am saddened to hear of the passing of your dad/grandad/brother/brother-in-law. I am so proud to have called your dad a friend. I consider your dad an important mentor of my youth. My brothers and I have many wonderful memories of Howard. Fishing at Port Mansfield, deer hunting at Willie Carter's, interesting flights or just hanging out at the airport or farm are all great memories we share. This world needs more men ( and more colorful characters) like your dad. He will be greatly missed by all his innumerable friends who's lives are much richer for knowing your dad. A life well-lived.
Happy flying and happy hunting, old friend. We're missing you already.
