Hugh Daniel Robinson, age 75, passed away May 3, 2020. He was born on January 17, 1945 to Pauline and Rayford T. Robinson in Texarkana, Texas. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leona and Ira Gazaway and Sarah and Lonzo Hugh Robinson, his son Rayford Gus "Robby" Robinson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Betty Robinson; his son, James Daniel "Danny" Robinson (Wendy); grandchildren, Jackie Coronado (Abraham), Reese, Jenna, Faith, Luke, Bo, Lily; daughters-in-law, Judy and Wendy; brothers, Wallace Robinson (Helen), and Mike Robinson (Peggy); niece, Stephanie, Julie Laurence (Grant), Jill Tshirhart (Brain), Jenny Parker (Damon).
He graduated from Highlands High School in 1963. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He worked for USAA where he met his wife. He worked for Volkswagen and then CPS where he retired after his carcinoid cancer diagnosis. He fought this cancer for many years, but always remained optimistic and had a positive outlook on life. Hugh was also a Real Estate Broker with his own office.
From childhood he loved spending time at his grandparents place in Utopia, Texas. This love of outdoors, the hill country, wildlife was passed down to his sons. He helped organize many outings in Utopia for his friends and fellow Christians. He loved domino games and parties just like his Papaw. He had a strong faith and love for the Lord. Hugh was a calm person who had a kind spirit. He was appreciate of the care Betty gave him. They were a good team in real estate and their marriage was devoted toward pleasing God.
Special thanks and gratitude to Joe, Makayla, Crisie and Rachel, who called Hugh her Lazares. They voiced amazement at his endurance and his kind spirit that was often displayed by his smile.
Preachers Jesse Garcia and John Gambino will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Robinson, Ronnie Gazaway, Alan Burris, Eric Burris, David Burris, Cody Burris. Honorary pallbearers will be Reese Robinson, Luke Robinson and Bo Robinson.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2020 at 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment at San Fernando Cemetery III.

I believe this is the same Hugh Robinson who was a good friend of my brother’s, Daylon Royal in SA when they were teens on into adult age. RIP Hugh.
