Humberto Calderon Obituary

March 30, 1930 - May 25, 2017

Humberto R. Calderon, 87, born March 30, 1930, was called into God's loving hands Thursday, May 25, 2017. He reunites in Heaven with his parents, Estevan and Felicitas Calderon; brothers, Mario and Antonio Calderon. Humberto loved basketball. In 1948 he received a full ride to East Texas Baptist College, back then it was unheard of for a Mexican-American to receive such an award. He served his country in the Army and retired from Kelly AFB after 33 years of service. Much loved, he will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years Susie M. Calderon; children, Raul M. Calderon (Louda), Humberto R. Calderon Jr. (Nancy), Al Calderon (Dora), Liza Calderon Blatter (John) and Orlando M. Calderon; grandchildren, John, Taylor, Christopher, Kevin, Carina, Diana, Blair and Jamie; brother, Manuel Calderon (Diane) and numerous loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5pm until 9pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm at Castillo Mission Funeral Home. On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, family and friends will meet at 9:00am for a 10:00am Mass at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1202 S. Zarzamora Street. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.

Me and my wife Dora, have been neighbors of Humberto & Susie for almost 20 yrs. I am retired as was Humberto.
I remember in the mornings I would go out to my backyard to start my daily routine. I would see or hear Humberto n Susie already working in their "Beautiful" yard. Humberto would always greet me with "Good Morning Joe". I would respond back in kind and than we went on with our chores.
As I walked back to my house and hearing their voices in the background I knew everything was right with the world.
REST IN PEACE HUMBERTO
