Jalene Salinas Obituary
Born October 25th, 2010, Jalene Estella Salinas came in to this world ready to make her mark. What her family didn't know, was just how big that impact would be. Her smile was infectious. You couldn't help but smile back when you saw it. She was a happy child who loved to dance, dress up like a princess and spend time with her family. She always thought of her brother and sister, even before herself, and often told her Mom that she loved everybody the same, because she didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. After a brave battle with brain cancer, Jalene earned her angel wings at the age of 4, on Sunday evening, March 15th, 2015. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home, in San Antonio, Texas, when she went to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her Grandparents Frank & Stella Salinas, Oscar Regino Sr.; her Aunt Julie Salinas; and her cousins Tania Regino, Christopher Lesa, and Brian Salinas.
She is survived by her Mother, Jen Salinas; her Father, Tony Luna; her older Brother BJ Arriaga; older Sister Zoe Arriaga; her younger Brother Joshua Luna; her Grandparents Roy & Beatrice Salinas; her Great Grandmother Manuela Regino; aunt: Veronica Portillo; uncles: Adrian and Fabian Salinas; many loving great aunts, uncles and cousins; and her close friends Lilli, Mason, Walker and Rowan. In Jalene's four short years here on Earth, she affected more people than most of us will in a lifetime. Her story of bravery and courage, all while donning a smile, reached people all over the world, especially in her quest to fulfill her Bucket List, and "Shake it Off" with Taylor Swift. With the help of the community who fell in love with her, she accomplished this feat, as well as attending her Disney Make-A-Wish Trip, meeting the Spurs and the Spurs Silver Dancers, seeing snow, building a snowman, visiting her cousins in California, seeing sand, having a Spa Day, receiving electric Power Wheels vehicles and dozens of charms from all over the country for her charm bracelets. The entire community of San Antonio, and beyond, rallied around her and her family in the final months of her battle. She was even made an Honorary Member of the San Antonio Fire Department and became a Bexar County Junior Deputy, both tributes that made her smile even brighter. When she was first diagnosed, Jalene told her family, "God only wants me to be sick for a little while." She knew her time here was limited. Perhaps, that is why she made such a big impact, on the hearts of so many, as quickly as she could. The message that her family would like to share is this: Love everyone the same. Smile at everybody, always, and people will smile back at you. Shake off the bad stuff. That is how Jalene lived, it is how she fought, and it is how they would like her memory to live on through others.
Jalene's Funeral Service will be open to the public on March 20, 2015, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Live the Life Southills SA, 5595 E. Hwy 87, San Antonio, Texas 78222. There is limited seating, so when they reach capacity, it will become a walk through viewing.
The family thanks the community for their outpouring of love and support, but asks for privacy as they lay Jalene to rest at her final resting place on Saturday.

I remember the first time I saw Jalenes page on Facebook I immediately liked her page every morning I woke up immediately went on to her page just to see how Jalene was doing that day Jalene gave me hope she gave me strength she gave me a reason to smile each and every day I've never met Jalene in person but Jalene stole my heart many miles away up here in Iowa from day one of seeing her Facebook page she was just a remarkable beautiful precious little girl when she passed I woke up that morning I sat down with my cup of coffee opened up Facebook to go to her page and immediately I saw the sadness of her passing within a minute out of nowheres my front window was open and the wind just Blew as hard as it could my curtains just flew in the air as the wind was blowing it only lasts for a minute or two and the wind died down for some reason I felt like that was Jalen telling me im okay jalene will always be a part of my heart because she was the little girl that gave me a reason to wake up and count the blessings of life

Words alone cannot express how Jalene touched my heart deeply just by following her journey.
She has left an imprint on my heart even though I didn't know her personally but just by seeing her radiant beautiful angel face, I knew that God made her special and with a heart full of love. He used her to reach many people in different ways and show her strength, faith and courage no matter what she was going through. She was an amazing little girl and she will be missed by so many lives she has inspired and touched. What a precious little girl she was.

My daughters ( 6 and 4 ) and I have been following Jalene's journey for a couple of months. Every night we would look at her posts, watch her videos and pray for her. They loved to watch her videos. When we found out Jalene went to be with the Lord my 4 year old cried and was so sad. She cried herself to sleep. Jalene truly had a purpose with her joyous spirit and smile. Jalene and her mother are a true inspiration and an example of being joyful in the darkest moments. Jalenes smile and personality spread light all over the world. Even though I never new you, you are my hero. You were so positive and so strong! You did kick cancer's butt by how you lived and how strong you stood up to it. I hope to meet you one day, till then continue to look over your family as the beautiful little angel you are!!
