James Murphy Obituary

James Carlos Murphy James Murphy died August 30, 2008. He was born in Corrigan, Texas on October 23, 1921 to G.W. & Norella Power Murphy. A memorial service will be held at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church in San Antonio, TX on Sept 3, at 4:00, with Rev. Ron Myers officiating. The O.T. Allen Funeral Home will be in charge of Graveside services to be held on Sat. Sept 6 at 2:00 PM. at the Harrison Armstrong Cemetery in Alto, TX. Mr. Murphy graduated from Alto High School in 1939 and the University of Texas in 1949 receiving his C.P.A. that same year. He served as First Sergeant in the Corp of Engineers in World War II. He spent his entire working career in the Building Products and Floor Covering Industry. He retired in 1991 as V.P. of marketing for the Azrock Co., San Antonio, TX. He was an active member of Colonial Hills Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Virginia Harrison Murphy, two sons, Michael Clinton Murphy and wife Donna; James Randolph Murphy with this partner Eric Cogswell; and grandson Zachariah Murphy. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Colonial Hills United Methodist Church, 5247 Vance Jackson, San Antonio, and TX 78230. He will be long remembered for his ready smile, honesty, and kindness towards his fellow man. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

I offer my condolences on the death of James C. Murphy. I read in the Express-News that he was a veteran of World War II. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I deeply appreciate the military service he provided for our great nation.
