Jessie Simpson Obituary

Jessie Nora Margaret Simpson
April 24, 2023
Jessie Nora Margaret Simpson, 75, passed away on April 24, 2023, after a protracted battle with cancer. She lived her final days in the house that she loved so much, surrounded by the family she loved even more.

Born in Crossett, AR, to Harvey and Lois Simpson, a career in Civil Service brought her to San Antonio where she raised a family while contributing to the renewal of the King William District.

Always passionate about history, she found her calling in the details. She was forever diligent, whether in restoring the Joske House, preserving heritage plants, parsing through genealogical records for untold stories, or documenting the history of King William houses. The latter of which she wrote in two definitive books on the subject.

Jessie was an avid natural gardener, decorated contracting officer, King William Association president and board member, medal-winning runner, historian, preservationist, passionate reader, longtime member of the WOW Book Club, dedicated Spurs fan, and she loved cooking and hosting neighborhood gatherings. She could often be spotted in her garden or riding through San Antonio on a tandem bicycle with her beloved husband Bill.

Jessie leaves behind her children, grandchildren, husband, and sister, along with a sprawling network of family, friends and colleagues who deeply mourn her passing.

No. This is a sad day for me. She was there for me when my mom died She was an encourager during my career at Kelly. She opened her home and heart. Truly heaven's gain. RIH. Dr. Jeanette Robinson, Dayton Ohio

My best wishes to Bill, Francis and the family in this difficult time. I too have fond memories of the wedding, and the time I spent with them during the 9/11 crisis. In so many ways they were my home away from home! Jessie always treated me like family! Aimee sends her best as well.
