I was a member of the Alamo Heights Optimist Club with J.David for 20 years (1992-2012). Visited the Ranch with other members on several occasions occasionally hosting picnics for SA youth who enjoyed lectures tours, swims in Medrano lake, and lunch. Afterward, members would enjoy steak dinners, lots of war stories, and an overnight at the Ranch. What a memory! Also enjoyed an occasional four hour shift with J. David at the Club’s Christmas tree lot on Austin highway (still operating). What a pleasure to be with him and sharing his life stories as enumerated in this eulogy. He was a unique visionary in an area few of us ever thought about and his accomplishments have created a lasting legacy to be enjoyed and valued by so many. A true gift to all who may be succeeded but never replaced.

Mr Bamberger was kind enough to give us a private tour of his ranch. A very kind man. Rest in peace and Gods speed!

I remember a Bamberger woman who resided in Parkview Manor on Pine Street in Massillon. I believe she had always been there or taken care of by someone. Bamberger piano store in Massillon

My parents, Bill & Jackie Wroten were friends with the Bamberger's from the Alamo Heights Optimist Club. They would go to the ranch on numerous occasions and have a great time. So many stories I used to hear from my parents about his family and the amount of work he did on his ranch and at his businesses.

J David you have been a friend and an inspiration for Keyes Ranch these many years. I asked for rain when you reached heaven and you complied! With rain, sleet and snow! Thank you. God has blessed you and you in your amazing ways blessed our Texas Hill Country! Now rest and watch over us until we meet again!

I was so inspired by J. David and had the privilege of visiting Selah several times as an environmental educator, scientific researcher, and Natural History Museum Executive Director. He was a rare and special person with extraordinary vision and the ability to follow through on his dreams. We are so fortunate to have been blessed with him in our state. His legacy will live on through his ranch, and the countless children, educators, scientists, and others he inspired.

J. David was such an inspiring person. He cleared the water-hogging juniper from his ranch, and springs flowed that old-timers said hadn't flowed since they were kids.
Austin's own Pamela LeBlanc roamed around with him on his Selah preserve for a year, and wrote her wonderful book, published by Texas A & M University Press. It's called "My Stories, All True." If you read it, you can learn how the
great man ticked.
