John Larow
January 14, 1943 - September 19, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing John Foster Larow, who left us peacefully at home on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on January 13, 1943, John was the beloved son of George Vladimir Larow and Lillian Weisz of Houston. He attended Bellaire High School before pursuing higher education at Texas Tech University, where he excelled academically and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. During his time at Texas Tech, he also took part in ROTC. It was there that he met Patricia A. Slagle from Corpus Christi, who would become his lifelong partner.
John and Pat were married in Corpus Christi in 1966 and began their journey together at Redstone Arsenal Army Base near Huntsville, Alabama. Their next move brought them to White Sands Missile Range near El Paso, Texas. John dedicated many years to his service and subsequently joined the Civil Service at White Sands in 1969. They settled in El Paso, where they made their home for 38 wonderful years.
John's career was marked by a devotion to his work, the details of which often sparked playful family jokes about his secretive role. Beyond his professional life, John, Pat, and their son David treasured their time spent exploring the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. They enjoyed many memorable summers towing their trailer with their Blazer and creating lasting Christmas memories in Red River, New Mexico, alongside family and close friends, including Betty and Bob Slagle and Bonnie and John Griffith.
In his later years, John and Pat moved to Spring Branch, Texas, to be closer to family. John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Larow; his in-laws, Betty and Bob Slagle; and cherished cousins Robert Weisz and Robert Brown.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years, Pat Larow of Spring Branch; their son David Larow and son-in-law William Tucker of New Braunfels; Andrew and Judy Gal and their children in Australia; Bonnie and John Griffith of Boerne; and cousins Jody and Gery Maneth.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at Visiting Angels – Bernice, Luke, Janabe, and Lois – as well as Hope Hospice – Kris and Melissa – and PAM staff in New Braunfels for their loving care and support.
John's ashes will be placed in the Ft. Sam Houston Columbarium, with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
