Jorge Villarreal Obituary
CPL. Jorge Villarreal, Jr., USMC died Sunday, October 17, 2010 while defending his country during Operation Enduring Freedom in Helmand, Province, Afghanistan. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Pedro Manuel Villarreal; and his cousins, Alex Briones and Kimberly Levine. Jorge is survived by his wife, Reyna A. Rodriguez; step-daughter, Shia L. Robles; parents, Yolanda and Jorge Villarreal, Sr.; sister, April V. Rodriguez and her husband, Jesse Rodriguez; niece and nephew, Brooklynn and Noah Rodriguez; maternal grandparents, Florentino and Margarita Briones; paternal grandmother, Martha Villarreal; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Porter Loring on McCullough.

Dear Villarreal Family and Friends:
Please accept my most profound sympathies on the loss of CPL. Jorge Villarreal, Jr, who died in service of his country on October 17, 2010. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.
Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I would like you to know that I am sincerely thankful for your family's deep sense of patriotism, selflessness, and sacrifice you have made on behalf of this great nation.
He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. May God give you and yours strength and courage. I am the head football coach at Broadway High School, located in Virginia. Each week this season, our football team will play in honor of a fallen soldier. This week, we will be playing for Jorge. The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Marine Jorge Villarreal our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jorge. And to Jorge it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jorge, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
