Jose Francisco "Joe" Davila, 85, of San Antonio passed away on September 27, 2023.
Joe was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 16, 1938. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1965 and married Karen Darby in 1966.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Karen Darby Davila, his parents, Jose Davila and Feliciana Cortez Wells, and his siblings, Frances Montalvo, Raul Wells, Clara Cantu, Mary Zamarripa, and Sam Wells.
He is survived by his daughters, Amelinda Raquel Davila of San Antonio and Delia Teresa Davila of Austin, granddaughters Erika Petre and Hannah Petre, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was happy in his pharmacy career, studied yoga for many years, and took up investing as a hobby. His friendly nature made him a friend to many in his career and hobbies, and he was beloved in his neighborhood where he took daily walks. He loved nature, photography, and telling his favorite stories.
A memorial will be held on Monday, October 9th at 7:00pm, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy. In lieu of flowers, wearing blue and telling stories from Joe's life, his or yours, would be greatly appreciated.

I have so many fond memories of Joe. I remember how much he loved animals. My mom's dogs Canela and Boy adored him and of course the cats Buddy and Copy loved him as well.

I remember Joe as a sweet and funny man who would often tease my mom and make her laugh. I also remember what a good Dad he was.
