Joylene Bartay Obituary

February 1, 1939 - September 28, 2016
On Wednesday September 28th Joylene Taylor Bartay of San Antonio, TX was received into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus. Joylene was born on February 1st, 1939 in Austin, TX. She was raised in Houston, TX where she lived until she married in 1958. On October 24th, 1958 she married the man she loved and cherished for the remaining years of her life. They met on a blind date attending a Texas A&M football game and became each other's lifelong friends and companions. During the almost 58 years of marriage she served as a U.S. Civil Servant with the U.S. Army for 20 years.

Joylene was a member of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX. She was first and foremost a strong and devoted servant of our Lord Jesus and even as her health and body were failing, she remained steadfast in that service; hosting the Tuesday night bible study when she could which she was a part of for numerous year.

Joylene is survived by her loving and devoted husband LTC Tandy E Bartay USA Retired of San Antonio, TX, and her three sons: Randall (Randy) Scott Bartay of San Antonio, TX, Gregory Keith Bartay and wife Stacy of Houston, TX and Bryan Kent (Ken) Bartay and wife Gail of Waco, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her Step Mother Doris Taylor of Houston, TX, two sisters and one brother.

Missing you mom. Getting married to a beautiful christian lady, Sonia. I know you'd love her as she loves Christ like you. Wish you were here to meet here but I know you are here in spirit. We actually met at your bible study last fall. I love you mom and miss you bunches. ❤

Joy was everything you could ever want in a cousin and a friend. We enjoyed her & Tandy & kids when they lived here in CA years ago and will miss her being at all our family reunions in Texas. I don't think she missed any if they were here in the states. Joy has always opened their home and hearts to family and friends. Our sweetest memories will be the two trips we took with them last year. Even then, we were guests as they gave and gave and gave again. That's Joy!

Did not know Joy well but I do know she was a Christ follower and served Him well while on this earth. For all of us, our time here is short and she is now truly at home in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Breathing will never again be labor. Death stings but it is not victorious. Praying for the family.

Joy brought our extended family closer together. She shared stories and photos and helped us learn about our ancestors. When Daddy was sick, she was there. A loving wife, mother and woman of God, she made the extra effort for those she loved. I am thankful you will be reunited with Daddy and all our loved ones that have gone on to be with the Lord. Give Daddy and Grandma a big hug for me. I love you all.

Regrettably, never spent a lot of time with Joy and the rest of her family, mainly because of proximity and family sizes, but when we did visit, she was a Christian inspiration and reflected God's presence in her life. This is what I'll remember most about Joy.
