William Sutton Obituary
October 29, 1947 - March 14, 2026
William "Bill" Harry Sutton of San Antonio, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Born on October 29, 1947, to Delores and Willard Franklin Sutton, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, musician, pilot, and racecar driver. A devoted husband to his wife, father to his children, and "Papa" to his grandchildren, he loved nothing more than to create wonderful and exciting experiences for his family and to watch them enjoy themselves. Bill was a truly kind, considerate, and generous man. If you ever asked him to split a nickel, he'd make sure you ended up with 3 cents. Though our opinion may be biased, if there was a Mount Rushmore of Great Men, Bill would certainly have his face engraved there. The foundations he carved steadfast in stone for his children and grandchildren will be his legacy, and we will be forever grateful. Though the music has ended, the melody of Bill's life will linger on forever.
Bill is survived by his loving family which includes his beautiful wife of 57 years, Deborah "Honey" Sutton (née Harms); his children, Christopher Sutton (Cyndy), Alison Bergin Edwards (Ron), Darren Sutton (Curry); his grandchildren William, Austin, and Braden Bergin, and Chance and Caralyn Sutton; brother-in-law Lee Mueller; and many beloved friends and family members.
A graveside service will be held in Bill's honor on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at 1pm. A gathering for friends and family shall follow at the Bergin-Edwards residence in Alamo Heights.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Cleveland Heart Clinic or MD Anderson Cancer Center Hospital.
