January 10, 1955 - September 28, 2025
Thank you, Lord for 70 years of earthly life. She was a loving wife to Dr. Steven Kalter, mother to Benjamin Kalter and his wife, Haley Thorson Kalter. Her faith journey and devotion to our Lord was her source of strength as she battled her cancer for over 40 years.
Karen Bridget was born in 1955 to Jennie and Dale Reichley, growing up in Westlake, Louisiana. She moved to Houston to work and complete her master's degree in Public Health.
Karen and Steve met at Herman Hospital in Houston and moved to San Antonio upon completion of Steve's training. Karen was a devoted mother and wife confident in the loving promises of our Lord.
After recovering from her illness, she and Steve waited patiently for the birth of their son, Benjamin David.
For the three Kalter's, free time on the weekend was filled with travel to the Hill Country and across America and abroad to fish, play sports and explore. She loved and was loved. Her last words were "I am tired."
We will miss your grace, beautiful smile and contagious laugh.
Dear Karen, may you rest in peace.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th from 6-8 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 10:00 am at St. Matthew's Catholic Church; 10703 Wurzbach Rd.; San Antonio, TX 78230 with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
