Kenneth Ables Obituary

October 7, 1936 - November 25, 2015
Kenneth Wayne Ables finished his earthly journey on November 25th 2015 and went to be with our Father in Heaven. He was born on Oct 7th 1936 in Hollis Oklahoma to Hurley Steven and Nettie Virginia Ables. Kenneth served his nation in the Navy for 26 years as a submariner and later a regional recruiter for south Texas. After retiring from the Navy he took up another highly successful career as a building construction inspector for the University of Texas System for 17 years reporting directly to the Chancellor. He oversaw construction of work on M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the UT Health & Science Center at the medical center in San Antonio among other significant projects. His entire careers in both the military and civilian life were acknowledged with advancements and awards. He truly loved both endeavors. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Virginia Royce, three children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They are Cynthia Heierman and husband Marcus of New Braunfels, Carey Virginia Tuttle of Aransas Pass and Christopher Ables and wife Adrienne of Nevada. Grandchildren are Jennifer Gomez and husband Harvey, Shayleen Tuttle and fiancé Samuel of Pleasanton, Rustin Tuttle, Ryker Tuttle, Cailean Ables and Tanner Ables. He also had three great grandchildren Tucker and Taylor Gomez and Samuel. He is also survived by his only sister Linda Jean Metcalfe and husband, Murray. He has one living aunt, Glenna Frances Cannady of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Master Chief Petty Officer, NCCM (SS) Kenneth Wayne Ables USN Retired, Resident Construction Mgr. OFPC University of Texas, World-Wide Traveler, Story-Teller Extraordinary, Helper of Damsels in Distress, Slayer of Dragons. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans. Memorial service and interment will be held at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio 78209, on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 10:00 AM.
