Lambert Hrncir Obituary

Lambert Alois Hrncir
August 21, 1931 - March 21, 2024
Lambert Alois Hrncir, 92, of Houston, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 21, 2024. Lambert was born in the small town of Nada, Texas, before spending most of his childhood in San Antonio, Texas. Lambert joined the United States Army and fought during the Korean War. Following the war, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his engineering career working for a few years at Humble Oil. He obtained his professional engineering license in 1967 and then spent over five decades influencing structural design throughout the State of Texas. He worked in Houston for close to three decades at Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam before his first retirement. He subsequently went to work for HNTB Corporation and worked another two decades alongside one of his sons before retiring a second time at age 82. Lambert was married to Betty Jean Blaschke for almost 66 years, and they raised four sons: Daniel, Charles, Stephen, and Robert. Lambert enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching baseball. In the last few years, he was appreciative of the staff at University Place Senior Living along with the loving support of friends and family, especially his daughter-in-law Kristine. He is survived by two of his siblings, his sister Mary Jo Di Filippo and his brother David Hrncir, and also his four sons and their extended families. Lambert, a.k.a. Granddaddy, was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. One of his last conversations from the hospital was a FaceTime with one of the great-grandchildren during which they each expressed their love for each other. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Albert of Trapani Catholic Church, 11027 S. Gessner Road in Houston, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. The Rite of Committal will follow, via funeral procession to Houston National Cemetery in Houston. It was a pleasure working with Lambert at LAN and I still think back fondly on our conversations. He was an exceptional man and may the memories give his family and friends comfort.
