Larry Hensarling Obituary
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Mr. Larry R. Hensarling, age 71, who died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 8:15 A.M. in the Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Monsignor, Robert C. Angelle will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass, con-celebrated by Reverend James Liprie with Mother of the Redeemer Monastery in Opelousas. Assisting with the Services will be Rev. Reid Hensarling. Jodi M. Bollich, organist, will sing for the Services, 'Here I Am Lord', 'Shepherd Me, O God', 'How Great Thou Art', 'On Eagles' Wings' and 'Battle Hymn of the Republic'. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan Menefee Hensarling of Lafayette; daughter, Betty Ann Hensarling of Tarpon Springs, FL; three sons, Larry Reid Hensarling, Jr. and his wife Deanie of Lakeland, FL, Philip Tod Hensarling and his wife Leigh Ann of Houston, TX and Richard Neal Hensarling and his wife Rachel of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, Amy and David Hensarling, Jessica and Philip Hensarling, Richard, Matthew, Clare, Camille and Catherine Hensarling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip H. and Grace Reid Hensarling. A native of Bryan, TX and a former resident of San Antonio, TX for 10 years, Mr. Hensarling was a longtime resident of Lafayette, LA. He was a graduate of the University of Texas with a B.S. degree. Mr. Hensarling was an independent Geologist in the Lafayette area for over 30 years. An avid contributor to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he created an endowment to the geology department and donated a wealth of maps and documents to be used by geology students for many years to come. The family requests that Visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of the Funeral Mass. Honorary Pallbearers will be William B. Cavender, Robert M. Cavender and Stuart L. Cavender. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Hensarling's name to the Mother of the Redeemer Monastery, 168 Monastery Lane, Opelousas, LA 70570.
