Lon Cartwright passed away April 3, 2015 in Corpus Christi. He was born in Terrell, Texas July 6, 1922 to Lon and Ross Cartwright. He grew up there in the happy company of many friends and cousins. He had two loves of his life Mary Leigh Zerbee whom he married in 1955 and Twin Oaks Ranch. Clair and Loncito,

Thanks for sharing Lon with the Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest. Our photographers, be they from New York, Switzerland, or elsewhere, arrived at Twin Oaks as Lon's guests, and left as part of his extended family. They never failed to win in spades at Twin Oaks, and their beautiful winning pictures live on through the pages of Wildlife in Focus. He charmed everyone: he will be missed, but not forgotten.

Loncito and Family,
I just saw this, Wayne Hanselka posted it on Facebook. You dad was a very kind and gracious man and I always thought of him and your family as I drove past the turn off on the highway. I am better for having known him. I am so sorry for your loss.

We will greatly miss "Uncle Lon". He was the greatest storyteller I have ever met. He always was so kind and generous to all of our family. I can remember going out to his ranch with Granny(Jane C. Weed)and always having an awesome time listening to him joke and talk about things that had happened throughout his very amazing life. There are very few people today that could qualify as legendary, but Lon Cartwright was definitely legendary in my book.

TSCRA meetings will never be the same without Lon; he always made them more fun. His ability to see the humorous side of life despite droughts and other setbacks helped us all keep a healthy outlook on life. Loncito and Claire, you are a great tribute to Lon and Leigh. We miss them both. Terry and Quay McCall
