Lucian Adams Obituary
Lucian Adams was born in Port Arthur, TX on October 26, 1922. He was the son of Lucian Adams, Sr., and Rosa R. Adams. Lucian's older brothers were Domingo and Steve; his younger brother was Joe. Rosa R. Adams' family of Culver children included Harvey, Roy, Lawrence, Albert, Freddie, Estelle, Beatrice and Juanita. His brothers, Domingo Adams, Joe Adams, Steve Adams, Harvey Culver and Freddie Culver preceded him in death. The third of twelve children, Lucian was the last surviving Adams' son. His devotion to God, family, and country was taught to him and his brothers and sisters by their mother. Their love for one another and their unity as a family is a living tribute to her. Lucian was inducted into the U.S. Army, 25 February, 1943, and separated 7 September, 1945. During his service to his country in WWII, he was with Company I, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division. His conduct and actions earned him several medals and commendations, most notably the Congressional Medal of Honor, Purple Heart and Bronze Star. The Congressional Medal of Honor was presented to Lucian in Nuremberg, Germany. The ceremony was held in Zeppelin Stadium, and the historic filming of the total destruction of the swastika followed. "There I was, a little infantry soldier, getting decorated in Hitler's famous stadium what a thrill that was for me!" After separating from the Army, he joined the Veteran's Administration as a Benefits Contact Counselor. Lucian's firm commitment to our country's veterans, their dependents and survivors is evident through his 40 years of selfless service. He was assigned to the San Antonio office and personally assisted veterans, their dependents and surviving family members with dignity, respect and sincere compassion. He was a member of The Congressional Medal of Honor Society, The American Legion, Legion of Valor, Alamo Silver Wings Airborne Assn., American GI Forum of the United States, and VFW Posts in San Antonio and Port Arthur, TX. After retiring from the Veteran's Administration, he joined the staff of Texas Congressman, Frank M. Tejeda, Jr. He served as the Veteran's Affairs Consultant, tirelessly supporting veterans' interests and assisted in the efforts to ensure their voice was heard in Washington, DC. Lucian has three children, Rosa Herlinda Adams, Grace Adams Fawcett and Lucian, Jr. His grandchildren are Anna Marie Adams and Trey Fawcett. His son-in-law is Tom Fawcett, Jr. With his immediate family in San Antonio, he was always surrounded with love, hugs and laughter. He totally and completely loved his children. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and sought to support their interests, firmly believing and encouraging their educational efforts and endeavors. The legacy left to his family and friends of pride, honor, dignity and respect will always speak for the quiet and humble, very much loved father, friend, veteran and patriot - Lucian Adams.
