Lynette Simpson Obituary

April 12, 1941 - August 19, 2018
Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher and a loving friend to many left us last Sunday August 19th to answer Jesus' call. She endured a lengthy bout with Alzheimer's and very peacefully left us with her husband and children at her bedside.

Lynette was born to Elmer and Ida (Riethmayer) Stauffer on April 12, 1941 in Taylor, Texas. Shortly thereafter the family of three moved to Alamo, Texas. Lynette graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School and then the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Education. While at the University she met the love of her life and husband-to-be, Davis (Dave) Simpson of Weslaco, Texas. They were wed in the Lutheran Church in Alamo on May 31, 1963 and were happily married for over 55 years.

Lynette loved to travel and enjoyed numerous overseas trips with family and friends. She was an avid Bridge player in several clubs over the years. She and her husband were members of the Concordia Lutheran Church for over twenty years. She was an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook. She loved time with her grandchildren and they loved their Nana and her summertime "Camp Nana," her rice crispy treats, and her Macaroni and cheese.

Lynette and Dave had two children, James (Jim) Davis Simpson and Stephanie Stauffer Simpson Carvell. Lynette is survived by her husband, children, son-in-law Jay Carvell, daughter-in-law Kimberly Simpson and three cherished grandchildren James Cole Simpson (UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry), Emily Lina Carvell (TCU Junior), Paige Reed Carvell (University of Mississippi Freshman).

Cremation ensued and a private memorial will be held at a later date at the family home in Fair Oaks Ranch.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association to honor Lynette's memory.
