Mabel Adam Obituary

Mabel Tschirhart Adam, 90, of Castroville, Texas, went to heaven on October 24, 2007. She was "Nana" to all the members of her large family. Next to her love of God, her family was the most important thing to her. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces provided her joy throughout her life, and she, in turn, gave them unconditional love. Nana lived in Castroville most of her life and for the last 60 years her home on Highway 90 was the gathering point for every family celebration of Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Even after she moved to the Medina Valley Care Center in May, 2006, the family continued to come together there not wanting to let the old tradition die. She will be greatly missed by all of us. She is reunited with her husband, Ernest, who passed away in 1999, her son-in-law, Kenneth Schmidt, her sister and brother-in-law, Alex and Ellen Jungman, her sister and brother-in-law, Raymond and Bernice Ehlinger, her sister and brother-in-law Aaron and Ruby Mangold and her two infant great-grandchildren Kenneth Alaniz and Tristan Haby. She is survived by her three daughters, Yvonne and husband Dennis Haby of Castroville, Beverly Schmidt of Texas City, and Claudia and husband Richard Burris of Castroville, nine grandchildren, Darren Haby, Timothy and wife Teresa Haby, Yvette and husband Blaine Elmendorf, all of Rio Medina, Todd and wife Tricia Haby, Ryan and wife Adriane Burris of Castroville, Amy and husband Dean Alaniz, Ann and husband Freddie Ramos, and Anette Schmidt all of Texas City, and Leigh Anna and husband Wade Miller of New Braunfels, as well as eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Ervin and Barbara Tschirhart and Lewis and Elia Tschirhart of San Antonio, and sister Vivian Canty of Castroville, her brother-in-law Leonard Adam of Bishop, and her devoted niece Francine Ehlinger of Castroville as well as numerous other nephews and nieces who she loved as her own children. Her family would like to thank her friends and the staff of the Medina Valley Care Center for their companionship and care during her stay at that facility. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rosary will be Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Chapel in Castroville. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Catholic School. Visit www.tondre-guinn.com. Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.
