Martin Nanney Obituary

NANNEY
Martin William Nanney, Sr.

Our beloved Martin was taken home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. He was born July 14, 1931 to Jack and Minnie Nanney in San Antonio, TX. Martin lived most of his life in San Antonio surrounded by friends and family. His strength, love and passion for life will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Mary Frances Nanney; two siblings, Wayne Nanney (Connie), Erneal Martin (Barney); his sister-in-law, Pat Whitehead (Tommy); four children, Martin Nanney, Jr., (Sharon), Les Nanney (Arlene), Penny Pepperling (Matt), Brian Nanney (Angela); ten grandchildren, Brittany (Jon), Kimberly, Robert (Brittany), Melaine (Evan), Michelle, Riley, Justin, Brooke, Ciana, and Aubriane; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Kendall, Willa and Mason. Martin spent his career in the heavy trucking business as a driver, owner/operator and for the last twenty plus years he worked at Grande Trucks where his honesty and integrity helped build a loyal customer base. Martin will always be remembered as a man who tried to do the right thing, as he stood firmly for all he believed. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, water skiing and vacationing with family and friends. Martin's legacy will live on in the family he leaves behind, which is an extraordinary one, who cares more than quarrels, hold their heads high in adversity, and touches the world with generosity. We uphold the tradition that family will ALWAYS be there for you. These words are our bond beyond even blood. We will continue to live, to thrive, and to leave the world a better place than we found it - just as he did. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Martin and I have been friends since 1977. Martin was a very proud man and stood up for what he believed. If he called you friend he would be there for you. Martin and I have been friends for 36yrs and I am proud to have a friend like Martin.
