Mary N. Jimenez

Mary N. Jimenez, born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the age of 94 in San Antonio, Texas. She came here as a child with her mother and two brothers, Robert and Henry. Later, Mary's mother married Mr. Julio Sotelo. Julius Jr., George, and Savina were born of this marriage. Mary married Mr. Claude Bernal and a son was born. Mary's son Clarence had kidney trouble as a baby. He got well and did part-time work throughout college and made a living working in real estate. He married Norma Pena and had 3 sons, Clarence Jr., Michael, and Mark. Clarence enjoyed his family until his death at the age of 38 years, after his mother had given him one of her kidneys. After some years, Mary married Jesse H. Jimenez whose son preceded him in death. Jesse H. Jimenez, Jr. went to St. Mary's University, was a lieutenant, and served in Europe. Mary worked for Martin's Shoe Store and went to Corpus Christi for their first store. She also worked for Burts and other stores. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse H. Jimenez; son, Clarence Bernal, Sr.; stepson, Homer Jimenez; and brothers, Robert Nino, Julius Sotelo, and George Sotelo. She is survived not only by her 3 grandsons, but also by her brother, Henry Nino; sister, Savina Sotelo; and her great grandchildren: Clarence Bernal, III, Jeremy Lee Bernal, Angela Bernal, Michael A. Bernal, and Marcos A. Bernal. Visitation for Mrs. Jimenez will begin Monday, February 4, at 2:00 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at the Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, February 5, at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2.
