Mattie Edwards Obituary

Mattie Vickery Richardson Edwards went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Born on March 20, 1913 in Hart County, GA, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Ed and Lillie (Goldsmith) Vickery of Hartwell, GA; three brothers and five sisters. Mattie was blessed with many talents: Seamstress, Tailoring and Beautician. She owned and operated Mattie's Beauty Shop for many years in Travelers Rest, SC. She retired in 1978 and in 1990, relocated to San Antonio, TX to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She lived her Christianity daily and was devoted to her Lord and to her Church. She will be fondly remembered for her many cards and notes of encouragement sent over the years. She was an inspiration to many and will be missed by friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Richardson McDonald and husband, Frank of San Antonio, TX; step-son, Rev. Lewis Edwards and wife, Nancy of Central, SC; three grandchildren: Chrisanne Ornelas of Lake Saint Louis, MO; Keith McDonald and wife, Diane of Canyon Lake, TX and Colin McDonald and wife, Amy of Savannah, GA; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one brother, Benny Vickery of Elberton, GA. Visitation will be Sunday, January 27th from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. MEMORIAL SERVICE MONDAY JANUARY 28, 2008 2:00 P.M. WOODLAND BAPTIST CHURCH 15315 HUEBNER RD. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Baptist Church-Construction Project or to Odyssey Hospice, 4415 W. Piedras Dr., Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78228.
