San Antonio, Texas
Dr. Michael (Mike) Lee Boland, age 74, of Cibolo, Texas, went home to God on April 29, 2022. He was born on February 21, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Hayden and Sybil Boland. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Hayden Edward Boland.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda; his two sons, each of whom he was so very proud of, Christopher (Grace) of The Colony, Texas, and Jason (Lauren), of Manvel, Texas; his precious grandson Elias (with a second grandchild on the way); and his sister Linda Schmidt (Thom).
Mike grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and loved his Texas Longhorns. Afterwards, Mike continued his education at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he graduated in 1974 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He was very proud to be a member of the first dental graduation class of UTHSC and to be the very first dentist to walk across the stage to receive his diploma.
After graduation, Mike proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army for three years, being stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Fort Myer (Arlington) Virginia, where he made many lifelong friends.
After his Army service, Texas called him home. He moved to Alice, Texas, to raise his family and begin his private practice in dentistry. Mike enjoyed his profession very much and truly cared about his patients' welfare.
Mike's family will miss him greatly, and we are thankful for the time we had with him. He will always be remembered for his long-drawn-out stories, his corny jokes, our family vacations, and road trips across the U.S., and all the exciting adventures he took us on. Such wonderful and special memories! We will miss him very much.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mike's favorite charity in his memory: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery
