GRES
Michael James Gres, born April 13, 1980, passed away September 17, 2009, at the age of 29. He is survived by his parents, Nasario R. Gres, Jr. and Socorro Gres; brother, Anthony Gres; niece, Alexis Gres; also, fraternity brothers, other family members and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 22, 2009, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Castle Ridge Mortuary, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 23, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1312 El Paso St. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery No.2 under the direction of

Mike was one of those people that once you met him, you knew you had a friend for life and you just KNEW you were in the presence of greatness. I think they said it best when they said at his rosary the other night, "Micheal treated every single one of his friends like they were his best friend." He was one of the most beautiful people and I truly feel blessed to have known him and had him in my life. I love you, Mike. You will be missed more than ever! I had the pleasure of meeting Michael during undergrad at OLLU. He always stopped to visit with me while I was working at the UWAC. There were always big smiles and good laughs when he was around. There is always certain people in your life that hold a special place in your heart. Michael was one of those to me. Every time he walked into Alamo gymnastics, where he used to work with me and subbed sometimes, he would find me and give me a BIG hug and tell me how much he missed me. I could always sense when he was there and he seemed to show up just when I needed a smile from someone. He was a special person and while he was coaching, had a passion for teaching the students at Alamo gymnastics. I will miss Michael tremendously!!

My memories of Michael are from OLLU when he would help out with the Dance team and as staff at the Awakenings. I can honestly say all my memories of Michael are of him making everyone laugh. He was such a high spirited, witty, selfless person. Michael alway greeted people like he hadn't seen them in years. The world lost a wonderful person but heaven gained a beautiful angel.

I like many others met Michael at OLLU while at Dillo. He always knew what his mission in life was, I sit now and wonder if God favored him after completing his mission here on earth and was short an angel in heaven...calling our Michael to be with him. Michael was so many things to so many people. I met Michael at OLLU, as many of us did and I remember he was so full of life, excited to be there and anxious to make a difference. I knew Michael as an OLLU student leader, and he appointed me among his mentors, a role I accepted for nearly a decade. I met Mike when we selected him as our Resident Director with Residence Life at UIW. I was very impressed with his "crazy" humor and him cooking a meal every Monday Night for his Resident Assistants. I first met Mike at Dillo Awakening at OLLU. I was his group leader "Mom". I have always adored and loved Mike very much. His joy was pure radiance to all those that he met. I continued to keep in contact with Mike because he entered the same profession of pharmacy as I did. We often talked about school and the hardships of being a pharmacy student. I met Mike at the UIW Feik School of Pharmacy orientation for the class of 2010 and we instantly became friends. I did not realize what an important part of my life he would become. My prayers and condolences go out to the Gres family. I first met Mike while at OLLU and every memory I can recall of him is one that includes a smile. He will be missed by all who had the luck and pleasure of meeting him in this lifetime.

Mike will forever be missed as he was an active part of many people's lives. I met Mike at OLLU in 2001. We forever are Brothers of Sigma Theta Epsilon, and he was a great role model for what our brotherhood represented. I was blessed to have known him and to be able to confide in him. My prayers are with his family and the Incarnate Word Community. May he continue his good works here on earth by being remembered for being a good man.
