Michael Kaliski
November 3, 1943 - April 3, 2025
Michael Paul Kaliski (Mike) of San Antonio, TX, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at the age of 81. The only child of Dr. Sidney R. and Sophie Kaliski (Faverman) of San Antonio, Mike was born in Roswell, NM on November 3, 1943, where his father had been stationed during the War.
Mike attended the Elliot School, graduated from Texas Military Institute ('61), and then attended Duke University, Southwest Texas State University and St. Mary's School of Law.
A true mensch, Mike was a man of heart and mind who led an extraordinary life. His love of sports led him to co-found the Southwest Sports Association and to ownership of the San Antonio Toros along with his good friend, Henry Hight.
Mike's career also included serving in both federal and local law enforcement and the founding of a private investigations company.
A storyteller at heart, Mike's labor of love was as a theater producer and documentary filmmaker. His production of "Camp Logan" received the NAACP Image Award for Best Play and performed across The United States for years, including at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Mike loved playing tennis, watching football, listening to Motown and blues music, the occasional poker game, and was a voracious reader. Seldom could he be found without a book in his hand or by his side.
His beloved wife of 48 years, Carolyn Ann Bond Kaliski, and his stepson, Bill Weirich, both preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Sarah, David, and Katherine Kaliski, and his cherished grandchildren, Sadie, Max, and Ava Kaliski, and his cousin, Paula Beaird.
As per his wishes, Mike's remains were donated to further the cause of medical research. Upon completion of the research, he will be buried with his family at Temple Beth-El's, Palmetto Cemetery.
Mike will be remembered as a loving husband and father, for his generosity, kindness, and as a friend to so many from all walks of life. He was dearly loved and is greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on April 27th at 1 p.m. at Temple Beth El in the Oppenheimer Chapel with a reception at the Dreeben Pavilion following.
