Michael Maloy Obituary

June 19, 2017
Michael Robert Maloy, 69, of Windcrest, TX died June 19th, 2017. 'Mike' Maloy, son of Barbara Maloy, passed away from complications associated with his almost 3 year battle against stage IV lung cancer. He is survived by his mother Barbara, his sister Marcy, and his two sons James and Robert. Born in China just after WWII, Mike lived all over the world as a military brat. He himself served as a CH-47 Chinook pilot during his two combat tours in Vietnam. Once he left the military, Mike completed his bachelor's degree at The University of Miami. After college, he would go into law enforcement, namely with upper-level positions at the Fraud Division, the Attorney General's Office, and retiring as Chief of Medicaid Fraud for the State of Florida. He loved motorcycles, classic cars, woodworking, reading, and shooting pool. It's a little known fact that Mike was also an incredible artist, excelling in poetry. What's more known is that Mike will be immensely missed by anyone whose life he's touched. Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on August 4th at 9:30am.

Mike and I go way back to the days when we worked together in the Division of Insurance Fraud in Miami. He was our director's righthand man in the division, and most of the time took care of issues for, or before, they reached the director. Mike never wavered from our division's purpose of serving the citizens honestly and without bias, even though there were political pressures on our office at the time. He was the shining star in whatever position he worked in. He will always be remembered in that way by me and all who knew him.

Dear Barbara and Marcy,

May you experience God's grace and peace in the days ahead as you remember and reflect on Mike's life and your special relationship with him.

In His Love,

Mike was simply the most loyal, hard working, competent criminal investigator I ever met. He was more than a great man; he was a good man. R.I.P. - Bob McKenna

I worked with Mike in the Fraud Division in Miami and in Tallahassee. We butted heads many times as we were both stubborn, but he was a man of integrity and steadfast loyalty to anyone he worked with.

I really cannot believe he is gone. Mike was the kind of man one thought would live forever.

Good bye, Mike. I'm sorry we lost touch with each other after the Fraud Division.

Mike was a dear friend and the best white collar crime investigator I worked with in more than 30 years in state law enforcement.
