There, he met his first wife, June (Stacey) and they had their daughter, Danielle Kirstin (Mouse). The three moved to Indiana, then Texas, where they lived many years in San Antonio before he then joined the Army, serving at Fl Leonard Wood.

After leaving the Army, and a brief stay in Nevada, Michael returned to Texas where he met his second wife, Lourdes (Lou). They had a son, Ian Michael in 1988. the three lived in the San Antonio area for several years. He was employed by San Antonio institution, Jacala Restaurant for some time. The staff and regular customers became an extended family to him. Michael and Lou later moved to the Philippines to retire near her family.

Michael loved the water and always said he would have loved to have been a sea otter. He was an avid swimmer in his youth and often said he loved the freedom he felt when he was in the water. Michael lived many adventures that are truly unbelievable. He was a gifted story teller and had the ability to make even the most mundane events seem exciting and memorable. His level of creativity was unmatched. He usually managed to come up with the most unexpected solutions to obstacles and challenges.

Michael made many friends from all walks of life and never knew a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, at any time about anything. It was helpful that he spoke English, French, Spanish and some German. His extensive life experiences offered him the ability to speak on almost any subject.

He received full military honors in the Philippines on June 9, 2022. A stateside celebration of his life is TBD.
