Today my dad would have turned 88. Still the wisest and kindest man I have ever met. Dad always had room in his heart to help anyone in need. He never passed on helping the next person. His words were gentle but powerful. He spoke in love and not in anger or regret.
I loved that he never sought the lime-light. He always had his priorities straight. A kind and gentle smile, a word of encouragement at the right time, and well-chosen words before speaking.
The world lost a great man when he left and mere words do not convey the peace and joy he brought to all of us. The world today is louder, noisier, more self-seeking than ever. Dad never bought into that deception and preferred living a life of privacy, providing goodness to others by word and deed.
I miss our long walks around Woodlawn Lake and our many talks on philosophy and his true eagerness to hear your voice. He listened with an intention to change himself rather than try to bestow his beliefs on others.
My dad changed the world one grain of sand at a time and in his meekness he moved a mountain.
