Mitchell Lively Obituary

CWO-4 Mitchell Willis Lively, USAF (Ret.), of San Antonio, TX passed away on Friday, August 6, 2004 at the age of 84. Mitch was born in Woodward, OK on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920, the fourth child of Katherine Rinner and Willis Earl Lively. He grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School in 1937. After joining the Army in 1940, he went to radar school and served with the Army Signal Corp in the Aleutian Islands and other bases in Alaska during World War II. He received his Warrant commission in 1943 while in the Army Air Corps. He became part of the Air Force in 1947 and served in England and Korea and at numerous bases in the U.S. He was stationed at Randolph AFB, TX when he retired from the Air Force in 1970 after 30 years of combined service. Mitch married Alta E. (Mae) Luinstra in Kissimmee, FL on July 13, 1946. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alta (Mae); son, Mitchell (Mike) W. Lively, Jr. and wife Frieda of New Braunfels, TX; daughter, Katherine Ann Lively Benton and husband Don of Lamar, CO; four grandchildren, Angelique (Angie) Lively Richardson and husband Ben of Canyon Lake, TX, Mitchell (Trey) W. Lively, III of New Braunfels, TX, Lacey Benton of Littleton, CO and Amber Benton of Springfield, MO; great-grandson, Noah Richardson of Canyon Lake, TX; four sisters, Doris Young of Tulsa, OK, Eva Mae Gear and husband Cecil, Margaret Alexander and husband Doyle of Edmond, OK and Bobbie Gaston of Coffeyville, KS. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 12:30 P.M. in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, Mitch would have wanted a memorial contribution made to the charity of your choice. Sunset Funeral Home.
