"The only thing better than having you for a mom is my children having you for a grandma." Anonymous
Nina E. Agee, age 88, passed away on December 23, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. Nina was born to parents Emma and Luther Crass on January 1, 1933 in Harriman Tennessee. At 18, Nina joined the Air Force and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington where she met the love of her life, Howard Agee. During their 65 year marriage they raised three daughters and enjoyed tours in California, Germany and Hawaii. However, San Antonio is where Nina felt most at home and in 1971 they made it their permanent residence. As a young mother, Nina was president of South San Antonio Girl Scouts and had multiple troops in underprivileged neighborhoods. Later, she had a long career in retail, working at Frost Brothers where she made lifelong friends with clients and co-workers. Nina was an avid Spurs fan, enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling, and was an excellent bridge player. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters but her heart was especially captured by her five grandsons. Nina's true talent was hospitality. She enjoyed cooking for all that came through her door and many came for her cooking! Everyone felt loved and accepted in her presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Crass and Emma Jane Maupin, her husband Howard Eli Agee, and her brother Tom Crass.
Nina is survived by her daughters, Nancy Fishback (Richard), Susan Sheehan (Patrick), Cindy Agee (John Spence); her siblings Pauline Crass, Mitchell Crass, Norma Jean Patterson, and Fred Crass; 5 grandchildren, Bowman and Lucas Fishback, Connor and Ty Sheehan, Harrison Agee Spence; and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family is eternally grateful to Leticia Smith, Elizabeth Mast and Dora Dubos, faithful friends and caregivers the last few years of her life.
Nina will be interred with her husband Howard at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your choice of charitable organizations or to Impact San Antonio (impactsanantonio.org).

I never met Nina in person, but knew her through her caretaker Elizabeth Mast. Sometimes I would talk to Nina on the phone, or have Elizabeth relay the conversation between us. Liz sent me photos of Nina´s cat and Liz showed photos of my cats to Nina. I could tell Nina had a humorous sense of humor. She sometimes made me laugh. Liz and Nina were fortunate to have each other. And I was lucky to know Nina, if only by phone.

Nina was a wonderful woman with a great sense of humor. In the 3+ years I helped care for her I learned a great deal about cooking and gardening. She inspired me to start my own backyard vegetable garden. She had many wonderful stories to tell about growing up on a farm in Tennessee. I will miss our drives around the city and surrounding areas, playing dominoes and jigsaw puzzles together.
