Patricia Taylor Obituary

Patricia Taylor
August 9, 1943 - September 11, 2024
Patricia Taylor (nee Laganier), 81, of San Antonio, TX passed away on Wednesday, 9/11/24 in the loving company of her husband and younger daughter, Kathy. Patricia, Pat to friends and family, was born in Charleroi, PA to Paul and Betty Jane Laganier (nee Montgomery) and moved to Elyria, OH in her teens. She graduated high school in Elyria and went on to attend the University of Cincinnati's nursing program. She met her future husband Richard Taylor at the University, and they married in Elyria in 1963. Richard joined the U.S. Army the same year and they moved around the country as a military family for 20 years. Pat completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1996 while working full-time at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio's Library where she had worked since 1982. She retired from UTHSCSA in 2008.

Pat was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and while she did not complete her nursing degree, she remained a caretaker and supporter of both family and others, including animals. She was very intelligent and always interested in world and national issues, and she read newspapers daily from her teens until shortly before her death. Pat Taylor is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard Taylor; her daughters, Hope Taylor (husband Doug) and Kathleen Taylor; her 2 grandsons, Nicholas Taylor of Rockport, TX and Christopher Shannon of Houston, TX; a great-granddaughter Solara; and her niece Caroline Avery and her children, Clarissa and Jose Barrera. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Linda Rieutz. No memorial will be held for Pat, but those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name, since this is a charity that our family values and she donated to regularly. You are also encouraged to give support, even if just emotional, to animal rescue organizations.
