Phil Headland
October 25, 1945 - October 4, 2024
Phil Headland was born on October 25, 1945 in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Mary Elizabeth and Earl Headland. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1964. In July of 1967, Phil met Nancy Seamster on a blind date and fell head over heels in love. They were married on September 1, 1967.
Phil and Nancy moved from Ft. Worth to New Orleans and finally to San Antonio, TX in 1978. Phil spent his long career as an industrial equipment sales representative working at Eaton Corporation, Industrial Rubber Products, Capitol Bearing, and Purvis Industries. After retiring from Purvis, Phil remained in close contact with his colleagues, taking annual golfing trips together.
Phil and Nancy had three children: Wendy Elizabeth, Scott Phillip, and Holly Jean. Phil loved sharing his hobbies with his kids, spending hours at the Great Northwest Swimming Pool, competing in motorcross races with Scott, and deer hunting. Once he retired, Phil became an avid golfer, always celebrating a birthday so he could once again "shoot his age". When he wasn't golfing, Phil was taking daily walks and racking up miles and badges on his FitBit. In 2018, he was awarded the "Pole to Pole" badge for 12,430 lifetime miles! On most weeks, he would log 60 miles of walking.
Phil loved being a grandpa to his four grandkids. He was affectionately known as "Paw" and he loved to spoil the grandkids with his famous biscuits, chicken tenders, and pies. The highlight of each summer was a trip to Schlitterbahn with Paw. Once Nancy died in 2022, Phil stepped right in to do all the things she loved to do for the grandkids - never missing a birthday or graduation.
Phil lived an active life filled with many friends. He took care of the people around him. From cruising with Nancy to playing poker in Vegas to organizing the weekly golf games with his friends to spending time with his grandkids, Phil made the most of every moment.
Phil is preceded in death by his father, Earl; his mother, Mary Elizabeth; his sister, Sue Odom; his son, Scott; and his wife, Nancy. He is survived by his daughters Wendy Headland Salome (Nick Salome) of Austin, TX and Holly Headland Grogan (Ryan Grogan) of San Antonio, TX, his grandchildren, Emerson Lorraine Salome, Reed Scott Grogan, Kahlil Scott Salome, and Elizabeth Ryan Grogan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
