Ralph J. Trexler Sr.

Ralph J. Trexler, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas, age 99 passed away on May 17, 2012. He was born in Greenwood, Wisconsin to Lester and Louise Trexler. Ralph is survived by his wife Bonnie, brother, Dr. Philip Trexler of Indiana, sister, Joan Klechner of Florida, son, Ralph Trexler, Jr. and wife Debbie, step-daughter, Melody McClendon and husband Ken, grandson, Dr. Scott Trexler, M.D., Maj. and wife Heather, great-granddaughters, Madison and Kylie Trexler, step-grandchildren, Bonnie Mieth and husband Josh, Kenny McClendon, Jr. and wife Tracy and Jennifer McClendon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Haire of Florida. Ralph graduated from Notre Dame in 1941 and joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor in 1941 where he served at Guantanamo Bay Naval Air Station in the Civil Engineering Dept. and also at Navy Pier NTS in Chicago in the personnel dept. He was employed by Labs of Bacteriology at Notre Dame University until he moved to Corpus Christi in 1946. He was employed by Texas Employment Commission until he retired in 1978. The fondest memories of the grandchildren are long walks as he pointed out different birds and flowers, summer afternoons in the pool, late-night snacks and talks, and goodies after school to eat. Ralph was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed dearly. A rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. with a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Trexler, Kenny McClendon, Josh Mieth, Michael Beach and Howard Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Texas Division, 5429 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75240 or a charity of choice.
