Ramiro Wong, beloved father, papa, brother, and friend, was called home to be with our Lord, our Savior, on September 16, 2025, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 75. Born on June 30, 1950, in San Antonio, Ramiro lived a life full of love, service, and devotion to his family and country. Known to many as "Ram" or "Mr. Wong," he left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Socorro De La Fuente; his beloved wife, Leticia Wong; and his "favorite son-in-law," Ralph Mendoza Jr. Ramiro is survived by his son, Mario Wong, and two daughters, Sonia Mendoza and Natalie Wong. He cherished his grandchildren: Alina Wong, Madalynn Mendoza, Alyssa Wong, Elias Wong, Samantha Mendoza, Amerie Mendoza, Natalie Mendoza, and Bobbi Mendoza. He is also survived by his siblings, Martin De La Fuente, Mario De La Fuente, Jimmy De La Fuente and Carrie Marquez. In addition, he leaves behind his faithful companion, his dog, Lacy, along with countless friends and family who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Ramiro honorably served his country with integrity and devotion through 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, including a tour in Vietnam and assignments across the U.S. and abroad. Following his retirement, he continued his commitment to service by working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), where he built lasting friendships and exemplified the same dedication that defined his military career.
Beyond his professional life, Ramiro embraced every opportunity to enjoy the simple and joyful moments that mattered most. He had a deep love for golf and could often be found on the course, enjoying the game and the camaraderie it brought. He treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and loved ones, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and warmth. Ramiro also took great pride in checking off items from his bucket list, living life to the fullest and inspiring those around him to cherish every day as a gift.
Ramiro's legacy is one of love, faith, and strength. He will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his firm but loving guidance that pushed others to be their best, his quick wit, and his devotion to the people he loved. Whether in uniform, at work, or at home, he lived each day with honor, loyalty, and devotion. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and his presence will continue to guide and inspire them.
In honoring his memory, the family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Ramiro's life, his faith, and the profound impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Guadalupe, 13715 Riggs Rd, Helotes, Texas 78023.
Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
