Ramon Cortez Obituary
Ramon M. Cortez, III died unexpectedly on July 14, 2019 at the age of 51 while on vacation with family.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Veronica, his mother, Mary Theresa Cortez, his sister Valerie Hernandez (Jaime), his nieces Sarah and Carly and his nephew, Jake. He is preceded in death by his father, Ramon M. Cortez, Jr., his grandparents, Ramon M. and Josefina Cortez and Rodolfo and Margarita Cantu.
Ramon was a devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend. He and his wife loved traveling and spending time together. He loved barbecuing, camping and working on his cars. He was a problem-solver who enjoyed DIY projects around the house. He was recognized frequently by his employers for his diligence and commitment to his work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
FUNERAL SERVICES
Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 25, at 6:30 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 P.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate Dr., San Antonio, TX 78216.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 26, at 10:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery #2.

This has been a sad moment in my life. Ramon to me was a team player. He was highly motivated in his profession. Not to mention his concern to always want to help his team members and clarify things for them including myself. Ramon always praised me for the outstanding work I would do. Yet, little did he know how much I admired his dedication he gave the team. Very unselfish man. It is very unfortunate to loose a teammate, leader, and most importantly a good friend. My heart hurts with you during these difficult days. I pray that God comforts you and all his loved ones.

I never got to meet Ramon in person but, talked to him frequently on the phone. He was always very kind, understanding and helpful. I always got the feeling that he answered the phone with a smile on his face. He will definitely be missed. I pray that God bestow a gift of comfort to his family and friends.

Ramon is already missed by the team at the Floresville DaVita! Our sincere condolences on the loss of your sweet Ramon. He was always very professional and personable when he would call to check on the clinic or update the team on when to expect him in the facility. He and I had talked before of where he went to high school and found that common ground as he had attended my husband's alma mater. He had talked to my husband, one of the times we had to meet him at the clinic after I had already locked up and left, about school, barbecue, as well as places around San Antonio. Veronica, please know you have been in our prayers since we found out about Ramon's passing. He had made a call to the center to let me know he had completed some things that needed to be handled for us to be survey ready prior to leaving on his trip. He said he was excited to have a little getaway and I told him to have the best time...he works hard and deserves that time away! He was appreciated by the team for his even temperament and professionalism as well as his friendliness. I pray for your family's peace and understanding with time and that your hearts be healed and the pain becomes manageable.

Ramon, You were a proud Hispanic man who feared God and was always looking to make others smile and help when ever needed. You loved your wife and family and had a great outlook in life and it showed thru your work here on earth.
Words can not describe how distraught I feel writing this today. Your last words to me were - you were so happy to be taking time off that you needed to rejuvenate your body and soul. You said to me " Can you please watch my work orders and take care of Ben while I am out and Ben is out - I will see you soon."
you sent me a text of a picture your cars and said you would be enjoying time with family and working on your cars. I can't believe those were your last words to me.
I proudly got to know you personally as I trained you and looked forward to always chatting quickly between calls as you always make me laugh and tell me quick jokes or something crazy you saw on the field at work.
You inspired me to be a better mom, a better coworker but most to be a better me.
We always encourage each other to move forward and do better not only at work but in life .... you were a great human.
I will miss you dearly my friend, coworker and compadre.

I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Ramon two year's ago as we brought in the New Year in downtown San Antonio and I instantly felt like I had known Ramon my whole life. We have truly lost a soldier of the light. My condolences to his wife and his entire family.

My last memory of Ramon was at our Easter picnic at the Camacho ranch. He was making the rounds giving all of us samples of his delicious brisket. He always greeted us with his beautiful smile and great hugs. He was loved so much and will be sorely missed. I will be praying for peace strength and comfort for all the family.
