Raymundo Francisco Federico

1936 - 2022

Raymundo Francisco Federico, Ray to his friends and family, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born on May 11, 1936, in El Paso, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ysidra Federico Ortiz, siblings, Salvador Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Guillermo Ortiz, Elva Robledo, and son, James Federico.

Ray was a man of faith and was especially devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe. He had a strong work ethic and worked many hours as a young man to help support his family along with his siblings. He also achieved academic success in school and was a triathlete. At the young age of 17, Ray joined the United States Air Force and proudly served for twenty years in the medical field before retiring. After retirement, he worked at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio, Texas for thirty years as a dosimetrist in the Physics Department. Ray had numerous academic and career achievements but his greatest achievement and the one that brought him the greatest pride and joy was his family. It was in 1953, while stationed at Fort Sam Houston for medical training that he met his future wife, Gloria Martinez, on the San Antonio Riverwalk. At 18, he knew his future was with Gloria and they were married on June 26, 1955 and remained married for over sixty-seven years. Ray and Gloria were blessed with five children, Yvonne Speer (Calvin), James Federico, Annette Farrell, Veronica Rice (Eric), and Ray Federico (Karen). In addition to their children, they have ten grandchildren, Nicholas Speer (Summer), Johnathan Farrell (Megan), Jason Farrell (Tara), David Federico, Christopher Farrell, Sydney Speer, Eric Rice, Sarah Rice, Rachel Rice, and Aidan Federico as well as three great grandchildren, Everen Farrell, Nathan Farrell, and Judah Speer.

Family and friends of the Federico family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass to be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, Texas on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 11:30 AM.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas. Interment will be on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 10:15 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
