Rene Gonzales Obituary
Rene A. Gonzales was born October 25, 1959, and entered into eternal rest on May 15, 2017 at age 57. The native San Antonian was a 1978 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and making everyone laugh with his witty jokes and numerous stories. Some of Rene's favorite activities included photography and sports. But his greatest joy was coaching his kids and attending all of their sporting events. Rene is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debra Cardwell Gonzales, daughters Meghan (27), Michele (25), Mia (19), and sons Matthew (18) and Marcus (16), sisters Patricia Pena and Veronica Bakradze, and brother Roderick Gonzales, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Eveltina Gonzales.
SERVICES
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, with Rosary at 7pm on Sunday May 21 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Monday May 22 at 10 am at St. Luke Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian. The last time I saw Rene was out in West TX near Sonora in 2007 we were both doing work for the same company. He was an easy going guy and good to get along with. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Rene was a very kind, funny soul and the love and care you have for each other is truly an example of God's love for family. My husband, Jay, met Rene several months ago at the cafe where they ate breakfast and became friends. Jay thoroughly enjoyed his company and friendship and is grieved at his passing. Our condolences to his family and praying that God's peace comforts you.
