ENGSTRAND
"Dick Engstrand" to all who knew and loved him was born Richard Oscar Engstrand, age 80, to Alice Randolph (Paquin) Engstrand of Canada on June 24, 1932 in Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He is survived by his devoted wife Pauline, his two loving sons Alfred and Richard Jr. and granddaughter Julene.

Dick resided in numerous places, starting in his native Boston suburbs including Miami, Florida, Atlanta Georgia, Los Angeles, California, San Antonio, Texas and finally retiring in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a talented cook working as a chef at fine dining restaurants throughout the country, and known as a fierce competitor who had a passion for his favorite game, billiards, later owning several pool halls during his working days in San Antonio.

The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to all his wonderful nieces in Las Vegas, Nevada that brought joy, well wishes and support for both he and his wife while he was receiving his medical care. We also want to thank the caring doctors and nurses of Desert Springs Hospital, the entire staff of Atria Sutton, and finally everyone at Odyssey Hospice for their compassion and professionalism during dad's final days.

It's been said that a man's true wealth is not measured by ones' assets but by the love and respect that he receives from his family and friends. And if that's true he died a very rich person. Godspeed Dad. You are loved and will be truly missed.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Harrell Funeral Home located at 4435 Frontier Trail in Austin. A Chapel Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
