RICHARD "DICK" DAVID FOSTER
September 11, 1944 - June 30, 2024
Richard "Dick" David Foster, born September 11, 1944, in Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old.
Dick grew up in Vincennes, Indiana, and attended Lincoln High School. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 until 1968. He attended Vincennes University, and later earned his BBA degree from Baylor University in 1970. For 27 years, Dick dedicated himself to the Upjohn Company as a pharmaceutical sales representative. After retiring from Upjohn, he co-founded his own company, MediPro, which, for nine years, provided continuing education and speaker development for physicians.
Christian faith was at the center of Dick's life, and he was a life deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio. He found joy in teaching Sunday school class, where he shared his passion for faith and community.
Dick and Nita were married and moved to Texas in 1968. As a transplanted Texan, Dick learned to love TexMex food, and always included a praline for dessert. He was an active participant in his children's school sporting and band events. In his retirement years, Dick cherished spending time with his family, playing golf, and reading. He also enjoyed watching documentaries and PBS, always with one of his beloved dogs, Oscar or Tuffy, in his lap. Dick also enjoyed listening to music of many genres, as well as cheering on his grandchildren at their soccer games.
Dick faced pulmonary fibrosis with remarkable courage and determination, diligently following his treatment plan until the end. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his unwavering faith, his dedication to his family, his sense of humor, and his generosity towards others.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie (Wampler) Foster and Ralph Foster, siblings Harvey Foster and Nancy Bates. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita Foster; children Dinah Foster, Rex Foster and wife Lindsay Grant; grandchildren, Vera and Rowan Foster; sister Karen Stanhope; as well as numerous extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
