Robert Fernandez Obituary

FERNANDEZ
Mr. Robert Fernandez, Jr., age 60, went home to meet Jesus on January 20, 2012. He struggled with thyroid and lung cancer for several years and as a result passed away from complications. He lived every minute of his life as there was no tomorrow. Born May 11, 1951, in San Antonio, TX he lived a life full of energy and everlasting love. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was best known to his grandchildren as "Papa". Robert was a strong, compassionate, funny and caring man. He devoted his life to his family and enjoyed spending time with the people he loved. His hobbies included shopping, going to movies, and traveling with his beloved wife. He was a loyal Texas Fan to the Cowboys, Rangers, and Spurs. He was always on a mission ready for anything in his path. He will always be remembered in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Robert is survived by his adored wife of 20 years Lucy Zamora, 2 sons, 5 daughters as well as 17 grandchildren, with one on the way and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Fernandez III. We long for the day to join him. Visitation will begin Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 8 am with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Funeral Procession departs the funeral home at 10 am on Thursday, January 26, 2012 for a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower, with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #3. Boo Boo and I started work at Kelly on the same day in October 1973. He was a good friend and a good man. He weathered the hard times and raised his family. We both lost a son and shared our thoughts. His faith in God carried him through his ordeal. God bless you Boo Boo.

Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss. Robert “Boo Boo” was a respected college and a sincere old friend whom I will miss tremendously. As time has passed and we both aged, Boo Boo and I had spoken to each other less and less over the years. Mainly because we both had families and the time we spent with them was considered precious, but the greatest reason was that he wanted to spend as much time as he could with you Lucy. I know he loved you dearly and want nothing more than to care for you. Words cannot express my sincerest regret in his passing and that I did not get to laugh with him one last time. I will honor him always. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family.
We grew up with Booboo, he was a neighbor that lived across the street and a school friend. He always had a smile and a sense of humor. When ever we ran across him, he always had that great smile and beautiful personality.
We will miss him but we will always have all those very fond memories of him.
