Gene entered the world at the Station Hospital, Fort Sam Houston, TX to parents Army First Sergeant L. Wood and Lela May (Shelton) Hendrickson. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS and played football on the Mustangs' 1949 State Championship team. Air Force veteran, Certified Court Reporter, and Father to son Edward and daughters Sandra, Patricia, Linda, and Tiffany, Grandfather of eight, Great Grandfather of three, stepfather to Beth, James "Jimmy", and J. David Orr.
Graveside services Monday, May 22, 2023, 11:15 AM (sharp), Shelter #2, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
