Robert Jonas Obituary
Robert Jonas, Sr. went to Heaven to be with his beloved wife Dorothy, on September 7, 2017, at his home in La Coste at the age of 78. Robert was born September 2, 1939 in San Antonio, to parents, Walter Jonas and Virginia Goll Jonas. On March 4, 1958, he married Dorothy Jean Marek at a ceremony in San Antonio. Robert and Dorothy celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year, shortly before her death on May 9, 2017. Together they raised two sons and two daughters, Robert, Jr., Walter, Terrianne and Sherry. Robert was the owner and president of River City Van and Storage, B&L Transfer, Inc., Superior Transfer Inc. and Atlantic and Pacific Moving Company. He enjoyed spending time out at his ranch tending to his livestock and maintaining his land. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Virginia Jonas; his wife, Dorothy Jonas and his son, Walter Richard Jonas. Survivors include his children, Robert Jonas, Jr. and wife Jeana, Terrianne Rooks and husband Clyde, Sherry Langston and husband John, all of La Coste; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Benitez, Heather (Rodrigo) Breves, Ashley Jonas, John Joseph Langston, Jr., Robert Jonas, III, Joshua Witter, Walter Richard Jonas II and Cooper Rooks; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Flores and husband Bobby, Katherine Jonas; brother, Charlie Jonas; in-laws, Carol (Gene) Horne, Mary Ann Marek, Kay Marek and Joan Marek, Bobby (Linda) Marek; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Helotes. Pallbearers will be John Joseph Langston Jr., Robert Jonas III, Walter Richard Jonas II, Cooper Rooks, Charlie Jonas, Jr., Herbert "Buddy" Jonas and Leonard Jonas.
