JIMENEZ
On June 3, 2010, after 84 years of laughter, song, and love, Rogelio G. Jimenez passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He now rejoins his beloved wife of 58 years, Enriqueta E. Jimenez, in their eternal rest. Rogelio was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, padrino, and friend. Rogelio or "Popo" as his family called him was always ready with a helping hand, a dazzling smile and a kind word. He was an accomplished bowler, golfer, dancer and harmonica player who loved language and delighted in creating new words to the amazement and enjoyment of his family. Rogelio was born on March 1, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas. He was the only son of Josefa G. Diaz. During WWII, he served in the Army's 244th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Searchlight Battalion as a radar operator. Subsequently he worked in the civil service at Lackland AFB and Kelly AFB until his retirement 37 years later. Rogelio was a faithful member of the Men's Club at Sacred Heart Church and served as a block captain to raise funds to build the new church that stands there today. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Enriqueta E. Jimenez; his grandson, Carlos Jesus Moran, Jr.; his mother, Josefa G. Diaz, and his aunt and uncle who helped raise him, Ines and Faustino Saucedo. He is survived by his son, Roger V. Jimenez; his daughters, Yolanda J. Moran and Martha I. Jimenez; daughters-in-law, Raquel Jimenez and Lissa Buzzelli; grandchildren, Amy M. Quintero, Erica P. Moran, Adriana M. and Analisa M. Jimenez; great-grandchildren, Robert Nicolas, Alyssa and Tristan Quintero and Clarissa Janeen Moran. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces and members of his extended family. He was our rock and our joy and he will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Alamo Hospice for their compassionate care of our father in his final days. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
