GONZALES
Roland H. Gonzales June 12, 1929-June 30th, 2010. Resident of San Antonio, Tx. Passed away peacefully at Vitas Hospice Morningside at the age of 81. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Gladys ( Connie ) Gonzales. Youngest of 9 children born to Dave and Zulema Gonzales of Hebbronville, Tx. Moved to San Antonio in 1941, was an excellent athlete, loved the game of football played for Fox Tech High School and played for the US Army while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was an amazing business man. Owner of D & R Grocery in San Antonio through 1970 . He was Founder and owner of Roland's Roofing Co. where he built a solid based family owned business and passed on his incredible work ethics to the next two generations . He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and friend to so many. Survived by his children, Roland H. Gonzales Jr., Ilia (Cookie )Gehring, husband John, Alice Moore, husband Matthew. grandchildren, Stephanie Lewis, Lori Lewis, Roland Frank Gonzales, wife Kimberly, Roger Lewis, wife Tracy, Kathy Macias, husband Arturo, Bryan Gonzales, Natalie Kruse, husband Daniel, Justin Moore. Great Grand children, Taylor, Jarrett and Kaylie Lewis, Dario and Noah Macias. Survived by his sister, Faye Gutierrez and preceded in death by brothers Dave and Roque Gonzales, Sisters, Elizabeth Ramirez, Emory Vela, Zulema Martinez, Amy Cooper, Esparci Garcia. Our family thanks Dr. Carlos Alvarez, Dr. Rashid Sharaf and Vitas Hospice Care for the compassionate and tender care they gave to our father during his time of need. . In lieu of flowers please make donation to Vitas Hospice Care , Harpers Embrace, or the charity of your choice. Visitation will begin on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 6:00 -9:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with a Memorial Service to begin at 7:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at San Fernando Cemetery No. 2 with a procession to depart the funeral home at 10:00 AM.
