Ronnie Gleason Obituary

July 23, 2018
Ronnie Atchison Gleason was 71 years old at the date of his passing on July 23, 2018. Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Gleason Hoffman, his mother Elizabeth Louise Gleason, his brother Danny Gleason, his sister Catherine Gleason Kaloustian, his grandchildren Brett and Abby, his niece Arsine and nephew Aramas, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In his youth, he was a vibrant presence. So open, so friendly, and nobody ever saw him without a blinding smile on his handsome, dimpled face. He brought sunshine into a room just by stepping into it. Charming, tall, and elegant, with a wicked sense of humor and an enviable widow's peak, Ronnie could turn any family gathering into a memorable party. There wasn't any physical challenge Ronnie couldn't conquer - including water skiing acrobatics, barefoot water skiing, bronco riding, bull riding, horseback stunt riding, and pistol sharp shooting (to name a few).
Ronnie's parents, Buddy and Louise Gleason, established The Overhead Door Company of San Antonio, TX and built it into a thriving and successful business. After Ronnie inherited the company, its success continued and it was eventually piloted into becoming first in the U.S. in terms of productivity.

Ronnie became reclusive in the last ten years of his life, which has left friends and relatives with so many unanswered questions - but all who knew him recall that somewhere in this song he thought of himself:

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you before it's too late
- The Eagles

Ronnie is predeceased by his father, Helton "Buddy" Atchison Gleason.

I had many good conversations with Ronnie and Danny when I was a homebuilder. Lots of garage doors and some funny stories. He was one of a kind. John Windham

Ronnie was a memorable and special friend to all of us who had the opportunity to know him. He was generous with his open and genuine kindnesss. Ronnie was our high school class's own John Travolta with a bit of the Fonz thrown in. He danced to the beat of his own music. For me, Ronnie was a special teamate in an adventure filled life. I'll miss his caring warmth. He was part of the solution. God bless him and his family.
