Ruby Stephens Obituary

April 17, 1938 - May 21, 2015
Ruby Christine "Chris" Stephens died at Abode Hospice in San Antonio May 21st, ending her battle with cancer. Born April 17th, 1938 in Cocoa, Florida to the late William and Ruby McDermid Stephens and is survived by her sister Mary Anne Stephens of Milwaukee, Wisc. Chris graduated from Texas Women's University in 1960 and earned a Master's degree from St. Mary's University in 1972. She worked as an Occupational Therapist for Bexar County Hospital District for 10 years and then devoted 21 years to helping special needs children in the San Antonio Independent School District. She founded a program called "Krissie's Kids" that she operated for years to brighten Christmas for special needs children and their families. Chrissy loved children, her friends, horses and dogs and the world she leaves behind is a better place because of the life she lived. Services are being provided by Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio, Tex. 78239 with visitation Monday, May 25th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and a graveside service Tuesday, May 26th at 2:00pm.

Oh Chris, First I wish to thank you for being my other mother. You taught me how to be a good person, how to treat people, how to work hard, you taught me how to be right with those that I work for and work with. I know you are with Mia and she was very happy to see you! Jessi {your name sake} and I will never forget all you have taught us. All my love Peggi
