Sam Rowland Obituary

LTCOL (Ret.) Sam (Everett Hayden) Rowland, Jr., 85, went home to the Lord to join his beloved wife Lois on March 10, 2006. The son of Everett Hayden Rowland and Zaidee Rebecca Holder, he was born on March 27, 1920 in Taylor, Texas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Corps/Air Force as a pilot during World War II. Throughout his distinguished military career he was Personnel Services Officer at Brooks AFB and was involved in bringing the School of Aerospace Medicine to Brooks. The memory of his wisdom and sense of humor remain and will be forever cherished by his children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him, including; his daughters, Linda Rowland, Brenda Fest, Judith Robinson; grandchildren Tonja Brandt, Lisa Brist, Virginia Rowland, Jonathan Fest, Penny Fest, Bonnie Fest, Anna Pride, Abbey Pride, Sam Pride, Steve Pride, and Kevin Pride; great-grandchildren Chiara Pride, Emily Brist, Allison Brist, and Caleb Brist. Public visitation is at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday. A memorial service celebrating his life will be on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset followed by graveside services at 2:15 at Fort Sam Houston with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, he would be honored by a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society. Sunset Funeral Home.
