My husband, Paul Elizondo, first introduced me to Chepe Solis in 1962. Paul took Chepe's Trio to serenade me late one night.. and many serenades until Paul and I married in 1964.
We loved Chepe.

Thank you for being the best grandpa I could have ever asked for. Thank you for loving me and never judging, never criticizing, never doubting or ever ever being upset at me. You gave me real love and I will miss you every.single.day. You will always mean everything to me. I look forward to the day that we are reunited in heaven. I love you so much! My life will always be more special because you were apart of it.

Chepe Thank you for all of the great Mariachi music you played for us and others. I always felt at home at which ever place you showed up at to sing. One more request - pray for those of us who are still here on earth that we can join OUR LORD IN HEAVEN. Thank you Chepe!

To Mary Lou and The Solis Family;
Our deep heartfelt condolences to each family member who mirrored this humble, kind, rooted San Antonio ICON Man with our intangible cultural heritage. We would like to believe, he was a son of one of the folk musical styles we grew up with called, "Mariachi"....
Ms. Mary Lou, if you will allow us to share one of the many life long memories we hold close as many San Antonians and around the world experienced with Don "Chepe" as we are second generation of our time, who gave his all during the scope of our lives, with our family events from serenading our Parents Birthdays, Quinceaneras, Weddings and even at our Family Funerals, never hesitating to express the style of our Mexican cultural to the occasion.
As his Obituary states, he was and remains a main stay of another ICON, Mi Tierra, who we knew could be found and engage in a gig, if you will for a future performance and or family event.
Thank you, "Don CHEPE" for the love of music poured over us in reminding us of where we come from and what our roots stand for.
Now, Don Chepe, May you rest in peace and as you come into the heavenly kingdom, please perform and play a few songs to our family there with you.
May each of you find comfort and peace during your tremendous loss until you all unite.

Siempre en mi corazon con los mas lindos recuerdos. GRACIAS POR LA ALEGRIA.
