Sergio Olvera Obituary

Sergio Jesus Leal Olvera was born in Uvalde, TX on June 13, 1947 and passed away on August 4, 2001 after a long and courageous battle with acute diabetes. He grew up in Chicago and worked as a medical lab technician. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Francisca Olvera; his brother, Carlos Olvera, and his sister, Gloria Olvera Huerta. He is survived by his brother, Jose Olvera and wife Margarita; his brother, Pedro Olvera and wife Lupe; his sister, Sara Olvera Perez and husband Manuel; his brother, Leopoldo Olvera; his sister, Lilia Olvera Tovar and husband Francisco; and his brother, Napoleon Olvera and wife Kay. He will be missed by his extended family including 36 nephews and nieces and 45 grandnephews and grandnieces. Sixty-seven members of the family gathered at the home of Leopoldo Olvera for a Rosary on Saturday and Sunday evenings and attended Mass in his memory on Sunday morning at Our Lady of Sorrows. Mr. Olvera will be cremated and his remains will rest with his parents in the family crypt in Comonfort, Gto., Mexico. The family extends their thanks to the fine staff at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital and especially the San Antonio Kidney Disease Clinic for the care given to Mr. Olvera during the past several years.
